An NHL insider shared that he is hoping to see Elias Pettersson bounce back and succeed during the 2025-26 season after his "revenge" comments earlier this month.

The 2025-26 season is going to be a big one for Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson as after a drama-filled year that included a massive drop in production, the Swede has a lot to prove.
"If he can't bounce back this season, serious questions will need to be asked about his future in Vancouver, even though the full no-move clause on his contract kicked in this summer and runs through 2031-32 with an $11.6-million cap hit.

Pettersson possesses a deep offensive toolkit, as well as great defensive instincts, which give him all the makings of a No. 1 center. He's shown he could do it before, but he must prove it once again." Julian Gaudio of The Hockey News said.

Now that the 26-year-old is back at 100 percent health and has been able to train fully this summer, many believe that he's ready for a bounce back year and one NHL insider is in his corner entering the 2025-26 season and wants to see him have a great year.

NHL insider hoping that Elias Pettersson is able to bounce back this year

Earlier this month, Elias Pettersson spoke with NHL.com in Sweden while at the nation's Olympic orientation camp and he said that he is out for revenge this season and wants to become a better leader, as well as lead by example on the ice, for the Vancouver Canucks.
"I haven't thought about it, but for myself it's revenge. I'm not happy with last season. I'm trying to lead by example. But I know that I can become a better leader, in that aspect. I'm trying my best, but also trying to get better." Pettersson said.

Last week, NHL insider Jeff Marek spoke about Elias Pettersson's comments about being out for revenge and mentioned that he really wants the Canucks forward succeed starting in October.
"One of things that I think we all love about hockey players is something like we just heard from Elias Pettersson and that is that kind of defiance that you want and you don't want a meek sort of response or a meek comment from Elias Pettersson. Like right now is the time for anger and revenge and vengeance and I'm coming back with this newfound enthusiasm and training hard. That's what you want. If you're a Vancouver Canucks fan, if you're Vancouver Canucks management, that's exactly what you want to hear from Elias Pettersson. How many times did we sit here all three of us saying things like, if you can find your solutions internally, that's always better and if all of a sudden, you have a re-inspired and healthy Elias Pettersson, man that takes care of a lot of problems for the Vancouver Canucks next season." Marek said.

He added, "I absolutely loved hearing that from Elias Pettersson. Again, like I don't cheer for teams, I cheer for players. I really want this guy [Elias Pettersson] to have a great season next year."
When the puck drops on the 2025-26 season for the Vancouver Canucks in early October, Elias Pettersson is going to be ready and he's going to play a big role offensively for the club once again and while he might not get back to being a 100-point player this year, if he can get to point-per-game at least, that'll be a win for Adam Foote & Co.
