While they may not be in action, the Vancouver Canucks have another chance at earning a berth in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Saturday night.
In a post on their official website, the National Hockey League shared how the Vancouver Canucks can clinch their first playoff spot in four years and it will require the help of other teams in the Western Conference.
The Vancouver Canucks will clinch a spot in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs if the following two scenarios occur tonight:
- If the Minnesota Wild lose to the Vegas Golden Knights in any fashion AND the St. Louis Blues lose to the San Jose Sharks in regulation.
If the Canucks aren't able to clinch tonight with the help of Vegas and San Jose getting wins, they'll have to wait until tomorrow, when they'll have fate in their own hands again as they face off against the Anaheim Ducks at Rogers Arena.
It's been four years since the Vancouver Canucks have been in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. In 2020, the Canucks defeated the Minnesota Wild in the play-in round and St. Louis Blues in the first round, before falling to the Vegas Golden Knights in seven games in the second round.
At this point, with where the Canucks are in the standings, it's only a matter of time that they'll clinch a spot in the playoffs and it will be a big moment for the franchise and especially the city of Vancouver, who haven't hosted a Stanley Cup Playoff game in nine years.
When do you think the Vancouver Canucks will clinch a playoff spot - tonight or tomorrow? Let us know what you think in the poll below.
