It could be argued that Nikita Zadorov has been one of, if not the most valuable defenseman to Rick Tocchet and his staff during these playoffs. The big Russian took his game to a whole new level, and everybody who crosses his path learns about it the hard way.

Blocking shots, delivering hard hits, making game-breaking plays, or completing a comeback are kicking it off; there's nothing the Big Z hasn't been doing. Free agent to be on July 1st, he's been not only proving his worth but proving that he deserves a raise and important contract stability.

Since joining the Canucks, Zadorov has been one of Patrik Allvin's best acquisitions. The NHL even issued a statement confirming just how great he'd been for the Canucks, especially since the playoffs started.

Nikita Zadorov scored the tying goal during the @Canucks' three-goal comeback win in Game 1 and will now look to help Vancouver take a 2-0 series lead at 10 p.m. ET on @NHL_On_TNT, @SportsonMax, @Sportsnet, @TVASports. #StanleyCup

As it turns out, Big Z had the money in the bank and made it happen. The Canucks number 91 sniped a puck over Stuart Skinner's shoulders from a very tight spot.

Just on the verge of hitting the free agency market, it might be time for Patrik Allvin to consider him as a crucial part of his defensive core.
