NHL issues an in-game statement regarding Quinn Hughes
The Canucks' captain Quinn Hughes is only 24 years old, and yet, it's becoming clearer by the day that he is, or he will be, this franchise's best defenceman ever.
Led by Hughes, the Canucks particular advantage came through during the first period. The NHL stated Hughes the very minute it happened:
The young American added another incredible feat to his resume during the second game against the Oilers. Captain Hughes collected his 20th Playoff assist, making him the third fastest to reach the mark.
Quinn Hughes (25 GP) became the third-fastest defenseman in Stanley Cup Playoffs history with 20 career assists, behind only Gary Suter (23 GP) and Adam Fox (24 GP).
An essential part of the Canucks' success at every end of the ice, Hughes has already done well in his 7 first playoff game in 2024. The captain has never been one to shy away from the pressure, especially when the stakes are at their highest.
The Canucks will be looking to complete the home-ice sweep and take a 2-0 lead to Edmonton.
