During last Saturday's game against the Calgary Flames, Hoglander scored a pair of goals to bring his season total up to 22, which is a new career-high for the young forward. One of his goals has earned himself 'Electric Goal of the Week' by the National Hockey League.
The 23-year-old winger was about to be in on a 2-on-0 with fellow Swede Elias Pettersson when the latter tapped the puck forward to him, giving Hoglander a breakaway. On the breakaway, Hoglander cradled the puck on his backhand and forehand, before a leg kick and roofing the puck past Jakob Markstrom while on his backhand to give Vancouver a 2-0 lead at the time.
It's been a breakout season for the Bocktrask, Sweden native and it's even more impressive considering all 22 of his goals have come at 5-on-5, which is tied for ninth-most in that category along with Buffalo Sabres forward JJ Peterka, Colorado Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen and Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander.
