Quinn Hughes & Elias Pettersson Will Not Travel with Canucks on 8-Game Road Trip & Rick Tocchet is to Blame?
After multiple reports have indicated that the injuries to Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson are "not serious", Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet announced today that the two stars will not travel with the team on their upcoming 8-game road trip...
Now, unfortunately, the Canucks will have to go a lot longer without 2 of their best players.
Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes is declared week-to-week by Rick Tocchet and superstar forward Elias Pettersson is a week away.
The maddening aspect that fans are constantly annoyed about is the secrecy and lack of details dislcosed on Canucks injuries. As of right now, both are out with "undisclosed injuries".
Tocchet says neither Hughes nor Pettersson will make road trip to Calgary & Seattle. Says Pettersson is a week away and Hughes is 'week to week'
The earliest inclination that the issues were more serious than thought is when both Elias Pettersson ad Quinn Hughes were both missing from today's practice.
Is Rick Tocchet to Blame for Quinn Hughes being out week-to-week?
Many fans have taken to social media to voice their displeasure with head coach Rick Tocchet for playing Quinn Hughes in the last game before the holiday break with an apparent injury.
The anger came even further with Tocchet's comments..
Rick Tocchet on whether Quinn Hughes should have played the San Jose game on December 23rd when he was listed as questionable: "Well, he couldn't have hurt what he has any more. He's a tough kid and he won us the game with a couple of assists. I don't think him not playing would have made any difference. We're all hockey players.
You want to play. He gutted it out for us and we won the game."
Regardless or not it is his fault for further injuring Quinn Hughes, the choice to allow him to play in the last game while knowing he was injured does not make a whole lot of sense, especially when no he will be out minimum 8-games...
