Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes opened up in an interview this week with Sportsnet's about the team's decision to make veteran players available for trade.

The next three months are going to be quite interesting for the Vancouver Canucks organization as trade rumors begin to ramp up around the NHL following their decision to make veteran players and pending unrestricted free agents available on the trade market.
"According to several sources, the Vancouver Canucks have let it be known that - in an effort to get younger - they are willing to listen to offers on 'veteran players.'" Friedman said.

What we know for now is that the club is not planning on tearing it down completely, but it's unclear who will actually be moved by General Manager Patrik Allvin ahead of the NHL's trade deadline in early March.
Forwards Kiefer Sherwood and Evander Kane, both of whom are on expiring contracts, will likely garner the most attention of any of Vancouver's pending unrestricted free agents, but so will captain Quinn Hughes, if the club opts to make him available too and recently, the former Norris Trophy winner spoke about the team's decision regarding their veterans & the trade market.

Vancouver Canucks' Quinn Hughes reacts to team's decision to make veterans available for trade

During an interview with Sportsnet's Iain MacIntyre this week, Vancouver Canucks captain Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes found out about the team's decision to make veteran players available for trade and while he might not necessarily agree with it, he understands why Jim Rutherford said what he said due to their position in the NHL's standings.
"I mean, I think this is all about winning games. If we were winning games, Jim wouldn't have said that. I don't exactly know what he said because I'm not on Twitter or anything, but I heard the gist of it, and I think, like I said, if we were winning games, there would be no conversation about this." Hughes said.

As for Quinn Hughes' future with the club, something that's been a hot topic around Vancouver for several months now, he's still not focused on that and believes in his team's chances to turn things around and make a push for the postseason.
"We should believe (in ourselves). I mean, we should be approaching every game like it is our last. Or how we approach the first game of the year, with that kind of excitement. We should be approaching tomorrow's game like that, as well. I don't know why anything would change. I think that's just being a professional." Hughes said.

The next few weeks are going to be critical in determining how Patrik Allvin and his management group approach the deadline and whether or not they'll make big stars on the club - such as Elias Pettersson & Quinn Hughes - available to teams around the league.
