Writers at Canucks Daily have put together a realistic trade proposal that would send Quinn Hughes' brother Luke Hughes from the New Jersey Devils to the Vancouver Canucks.

With constant reports linking Captain Quinn Hughes back to the New Jersey Devils, where he would join his two brothers Jack and Luke, the Canucks need to start thinking about doing the opposite in order to try and get him to stay.
Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes was at the center of trade rumors earlier this summer after Jim Rutherford mentioned the possibility of losing him to free agency in the years to come, saying that the blueliner has expressed a desire to play with his brothers Jack and Luke at some point during his National Hockey League career.

Realistic trade proposal has the Vancouver Canucks acquiring Luke Hughes from the New Jersey Devils

With restricted free agent Luke Hughes still in intense negotiations with the New Jersey Devils, popular Vancouver Canucks podcast Sekeres and Price put out a poll to fans to see if the team should make a huge offer to acquire Quinn Hughes' brother.
With the overwhelming answer being "yes", writers here at Canucks Daily put together the most realistic trade proposal for him, even though the Devils would still likely never move him.
As a 21-years-old RFA and projected franchise defenseman already on the top pairing with Dougie Hamilton, the Canucks would have to make a massive and uncomfortable offer for any chance to pry him away from the Devils.
Here is what a trade would look like...
New Jersey Devils Receive
- Jonathan Lekkerimäki (VAN's top prospect, high-end scoring winger)
- 2026 1st Round Pick (Unprotected)
- Nils Höglander (young, cost-controlled NHL winger)
- Filip Hronek (top-4 RHD, immediately helps NJ's blueline while Hamilton is aging/injured)
Vancouver Canucks Receive
- Luke Hughes
In reality, this trade would probably still not be completed, but general manager Patrik Allvin should really consider trying any way considering that the Canucks may lose Quinn Hughes once his contract comes up in 2027.
