Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet has announced the team's starting goaltender for tonight's crucial game against their Pacific Northwest rivals, the Seattle Kraken.

The Vancouver Canucks return to Rogers Arena for their first home game in over two weeks and it comes at the most crucial time of the 2024-25 season as they sit seven points back of Minnesota for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference.
Rick Tocchet has two solid options between the pipes to choose from on a nightly basis with Kevin Lankinen and Thatcher Demko, who returned from injury a little over a week ago and we now know who will be getting the start against the Kraken.

Head coach Rick Tocchet announces starting goaltender vs Seattle Kraken

Following today's optional morning skate, Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet met with reporters where he confirmed that Thatcher Demko will be getting the start in net tonight.
"Tocchet confirms the expected. Demko gets the net tonight." Ben Kuzma of Post Media said on X.
Demko, 29, has an 8-7-3 record in 20 games this season for Vancouver, along with a 2.84 goals against average, an .892 save percentage and one shutout.
The San Diego, California native is going to be relied on heavily over Vancouver's final eight games of the regular season as they look to keep their playoff hopes alive.
However, fans can likely expect to see Kevin Lankinen in net this coming weekend with Vancouver having back-to-backs on Saturday and Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks and Vegas Golden Knights, respectively.

Stanley Cup Playoff odds based on tonight's potential results

Vancouver's Stanley Cup Playoff odds have been up and down over the last month because of their inconsistent play, as well as results around the league not going in their favor.
According to MoneyPuck, if the Vancouver Canucks defeat the Seattle Kraken in regulation tonight, their playoff odds will rise to 9.6%, while an overtime win will bump them up to 9%.
If Vancouver happens to lose in regulation tonight, their odds drop to 2.2% and an overtime loss will also see those odds decrease to 5.2%.
Puck drop for tonight's game tonight's game against the Seattle Kraken is set for 7:30 pm PT on Sportsnet Pacific.
