Rick Tocchet finally adresses the Elias Pettersson injury speculation
With Elias Pettersson being only a shadow of himself through the first round, there had been lots of speculation around the Canucks' superstar. The team's pilot finally adressed this speculative rumour.
After missing Tuesday's practice with an "illness," the rumour mill started right back up, and Rick Tocchet finally opened up on the subject.
Says Elias Pettersson is in and that the club isn't hiding an injury by ruling him out of practice on Tuesday due to "illness."
"We don't lie here," says Tocchet.
The team history suggests that the Canucks have never been known for not being fully transparent. The second round's first game featured Elias Pettersson, who was much more engaged in the game, a version of himself much closer to the player who tore it up earlier this season.
Hopefully, Pettersson isn't playing through something, and that series' first game was the building basis of the dominant Swede we had the chance to witness earlier in the season. If Pettersson is back to being his best self, the Oilers better watch out since the Canucks may have the NHL's very best line of centermen.
In the first matchup with the Oilers, he failed to register a point, but did, however, create chances for his linemates and even had a few opportunities to light the lamp himself. Will game number two be his official return?
