The Canucks first signed Jake DeBrusk to address that need but there's still a void to fill on the right side. Rick Tocchet has been trying many different combination since training camp started.
Tocchet first placed the up and coming youngster Jonathan Lekkerimäki on their side, and while he played well, it hasn't been enough to prove he belongs in the NHL yet. Kiefer Sherwood was also given a shot, but Tocchet's words on the subject are a clear indication of what it takes to be the 40 and the 74's linemate:
After scoring a highlight reel goal during the team's second exhibition game, everybody wondered why he had not been given a shot yet. Tocchet did state that the goal scoring machine would be given an opportunity and it'll extremely to see what comes of it when it does happen:
