Son of former Vancouver Canucks fan favourite named as likely draft target for GM Patrik Allvin

The son of a former Vancouver Canucks forward has been named as a potential first round target for Patrik Allvin and the team's scouting staff at the 2026 NHL Draft.
Due to the fact the season has not gone how they expected it would, the Vancouver Canucks' front office declared in January that the organization is undergoing a rebuild.
The main goals for Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford amid this rebuild is to make this roster younger through trading away their pending unrestricted free agents in the lead up to the deadline, along with aiming for a top-three pick in June's draft.
As of right now, the Vancouver Canucks hold the best odds to pick first overall, something they've never done in franchise history, with Patrik Allvin also having another first round pick through a trade with the Minnesota Wild back in December, which could net them an interesting prospect.

During an appearance on Sekeres and Price recently, National Hockey League insider Jeff Marek mentioned Brantford Bulldogs forward Caleb Malhotra, son of former Vancouver Canucks forward & Abbotsford Canucks head coach Manny Malhotra as a potential target for the club at the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.
"He is the son that you would expect Manny Malhotra to have, if that makes sense. Like he is already a thorough professional, he is going to be someone that whomever gets him is going to be, you know, proud to have them as a member of the team. Like at every single level, Caleb Malhotra is absolutely nailing it and he's an outstanding player at the same time too and if you can land two in the top-five and pick up Malhotra along the way if you're the Vancouver Canucks then all of a sudden the brother act turns into father son from Burke to Rutherford here. It's a sexy show biz play certainly and is a very smart hockey player." Marek said.
The 17-year-old is currently having a phenomenal rookie season in the Ontario Hockey League with Brantford, registering 62 points (23 goals, 39 assists) in 47 games and is set to head down south to Boston University in the NCAA starting this fall.
Last month, NHL Central Scouting had Caleb Malhotra at number five among North American skaters in their mid-season rankings and given that there's a strong likelihood of him going in the top-ten, the Vancouver Canucks might have to get creative on the trade market in order to land a second pick in that range, if they want to select him.
