After a solid 2023-24 campaign, Vancouver Canucks prospect Sawyer Mynio was invited to Canada's camp for the World Junior Summer Showcase and left a good impression on the coaching staff and members of the media.
During Canada's intrasquad scrimmage, Mynio picked up a goal and an assist and afterwards, Head Coach Dave Cameron was pleased with what he saw from the Canucks prospect.
On Wednesday, The Athletic shared their roster projections for the tournament for four of the favourites - Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States. For Team Canada, The Athletic, has projected that Sawyer Mynio will be on their final roster and apart of their defensive group for the tournament.
The Kamloops, British Columbia native appeared in 63 games with the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds last season where he put up 53 points (16 goals, 37 assists), 66 penalty minutes and was a minus-ten.
Along with Sawyer Mynio, The Athletic projects that Tom Willander will return for his second World Juniors after taking home silver with Sweden on home ice last season.
The 2025 World Juniors will get underway on December 26th and wrap up with the gold medal game on January 5th.
