Known to be best hockey player that ever came from Finland, Teemu Selanne was, for a very long time, considered as one of the most lethal score in the game.
The day Selanne stepped foot in the NHL, he started breaking records and registered the NHL's top scoring season by a rookie with nothing less then 76 tallies. Just like any rookie, Selanne had his shares of slumps and while visiting the Spittin Chiclets Podcast told one of the most unravelling stories you've heard.
Selanne already had 47 goals when he went into a two-game scoring slump, at which point the Jets' GM at the time was all over him and threatened him into scoring. The GM threatened that he'd send Selanne down to Moncton, their AHL affiliate at the time, if he didn't score. Selanne ended up scoring seven goals over the next two games:
We now know Selanne has one of, if not the best hockey player to come out of Finland. 684 goals, 1457 points in only 1451 regular season games highlighted his career. A Stanley Cup and multiple scoring titles also marked the awards his name has been engraved on.
