There are five notable players whom were once part of the Vancouver Canucks organization, that are no longer with any team, and could potentially prove some value if a team were to take a chance on them, the players are: Cole Mcward. Jack Rahtbone, Kevin Connauton, Travis Boyd and Zach Sawchenko.
This wouldn't be the first time some notable names were placed on waiversand cleared them as well for the Canucks.
"In a recent article for The Athletic, Corey Pronman and Harman Dayal mentioned two members of the Vancouver Canucks as possible waiver candidates before opening night, one of whom was Vitali Kravtsov, while the other was Surry, BC's Arshdeep Bains."-Jaxon
Several noteworthy players no longer with Vancouver Canucks and could find new homes.
First we have Cole Mcward, a defensemen signed out of the NCAA, who looked to be a promising prospect after playing a handful of games for the Canucks in 2023. But it just never seem to come to fruition for Mcward.
"However, he's played just one NHL game since his five-game cameo in 2022-23, spending most of the last two years with the Abbotsford Canucks in the AHL before signing a one-year deal with the Islanders on July 1."-Beggs
Then there is Jack Rathbone, who had much more promise than Mcward and was looking like a real candidate to be an NHL regular.
"Rathbone played 28 games for the Canucks across three seasons between 2021 and 2023. He was traded by Patrik Allvin in October of 2023 to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a deal that saw depth defenceman Mark Friedman join the Canucks.-Beggsz
Kevin Connauton, who was recently released by the Mammoth never played for the Canucks but was involved in the trade that brought Derek Roy to the Canucks.
Travis Boyd was in a similar situation expect he did get 19 games with the Canucks, and they were less than impressive to say the least. He signed a one year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs before being waived on Saturday.
Lastly there was Sawchenko who only ever saw AHL action for the Abbotsford Canucks. He managed to play six playoff games when Silovs was called up to the NHL.
