The New York Islanders have expressed interest in Filip Hronek of the Vancouver Canucks, with Jim Rutherford announcing the plan to go younger, would a 1st round pick be enough to get the trade done?

The Canucks while didn't announce for a rebuild, are definitely heading in that direction, if they trade most of their solid veterans

However if the Islanders want to get this done, they are going to need more than just picks and prospects. While the Islanders might be desperate to capitalize on Schaefer's rookie window, the Canucks aren't in a position to simply dump salary for picks. If Vancouver moves Hronek, they need immediate help or a higher caliber of prospect capital.
Hronek's contract is no light one either, at a $7.5M AAV, and he has a no move clause, meaning he has all the control. But moving to New York over Vancouver definitely has its perks, playing for a team that is much further along in their development. Playing alongside one of the most exciting prospect in Matthew Schaefer... a new lethal duo can be on the horizon.
