An insider has given a massive update on Saturday regarding the Vancouver Canucks and their players who are available on the National Hockey League's trade market.

The Vancouver Canucks made a lot of noise last week after Sportsnet hockey insider Elliotte Friedman reported that the club has made all of their pending unrestricted free agents available on the NHL's trade market as Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford look for ways to make his roster younger.
"According to several sources, the Vancouver Canucks have let it be known that - in an effort to get younger - they are willing to listen to offers on 'veteran players.'" Friedman said.

When speaking about Quinn Hughes, Friedman added, "They've made it clear (trading him) is not their priority right now." (Filip Hronek is another player teams feel is unlikely to go anywhere.)

While Quinn Hughes might not be available at this moment, the Vancouver Canucks' leading goal scorer Kiefer Sherwood is and is reportedly garnering a ton of interest, but it doesn't look like Patrik Allvin is close to getting a trade done with anyone on his roster just yet.

Insider gives big update on Vancouver Canucks & the NHL's trade market

During last night's edition of Saturday Headlines on Hockey Night in Canada, Elliotte Friedman gave an update on the Vancouver Canucks and how they're approaching things on the trade front.
According to Friedman, nothing is imminent in terms of a trade involving the Vancouver Canucks, despite the club having a busy week and teams already calling to inquire about certain players, adding that Patrik Allvin is willing to wait to see what offers he could get before pulling the trigger on a deal.
"So one of the things I kinda thought was we might see something quick happen with Kiefer Sherwood because he's an unrestricted free agent, he's a really good player, he's at a salary everyone can handle and I thought there would be a lot of interest. I was kinda told today that it doesn't look like it's necessarily going to be fast. There's nothing imminent in Vancouver. Now, Conor Garland is not playing tonight. That's injury related, before anybody goes to any conclusions. It's not believed to be serious. But he's not playing, not because of a trade, but because of injury concerns." Friedman said.

He added, "The thing is, I think there's some teams that are very interested. Teams like Minnesota, Boston, potentially Philadelphia and others, but I didn't get the sense today from calling around that anything was imminent from Vancouver and they're more than comfortable to take their time, see what the market is and wait, if they have to and again, the goal is to get younger. Everybody knows that they want to get younger and they're going to wait until they get something they like."
Waiting this out comes with its pros, which obviously is the ability for those players to increase their value and in turn improve any offer Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks receive, as well as its cons, with the risk that those players they're trying to move could suffer an injury, potentially lowering their value.
We'll have to wait and see what transpires, but given Elliotte Friedman's report on Saturday, it seems like the odds of a deal happening before the NHL's roster freeze in less than three weeks is quite slim.
