Romani is the third Canucks prospect to be traded in the CHL, joining
Sawyer Mynio and
Vilmer Alriksson. Romani was traded alongside Owen Van Steensel in exchange for Parker Vaughan, Zach Wigle and four conditional draft picks. - Adam Kierszenblat
The 19-year-old Romani was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks 162nd overall in the 6th round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft after having a marvelous 2022-2023 OHL season, scoring 58 goals and 63 assists for 111 points in just 68 games.
Unfortunately,
Romani has not had the best start to the 2024 season, missing a lot of time with an upper-body injury.
With out appearing in a single game since October 11, Romani has appeared in just 6 games, scoring 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points.
Not that Romani will be dawning the Barrie Colts jersey, he will be able to play alongside another big Vancouver Canucks prospect in
Riley Patterson.
Patterson is a fellow 2024 draft pick of the Canucks, going in the 4th-round. This season, Patterson has 17 goals and 14 assists for 31 points in 34 games, good for third on the Colts in scoring.
Romani is still a ways away from the NHL, but many fans are looking forward to seeing him play professional hockey with the Abbotsford Canucks when his time in the OHL is over this season.
