Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote is reportedly considering some big changes to the team's forward group, especially the top-six, for Thursday's game.

It's been a slow start to the 2025-26 season for the Vancouver Canucks, winning one of their first two games and dropping back-to-back contests to the Edmonton Oilers and St. Louis Blues, respectively.
In those three games, the Canucks have scored a total of eight goals, an average of 2.66 per night, which isn't going to cut it if the team wants to make it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs and among those that needs to step up in a big way going forward is Elias Pettersson.
Tomorrow, the Vancouver Canucks will kick off their second-longest road trip of the 2025-26 season when they travel down to Texas to take on the Dallas Stars and it appears that Adam Foote might be shaking up his forward lines.

When the Vancouver Canucks ran through their line rushes at practice on Tuesday, everything was essentially same, including the top line, which featured Elias Pettersson flanked by Brock Boeser and Jake DeBrusk, while Evander Kane remained on the second trio with Filip Chytil and Conor Garland.
"Tuesday #Canucks practice lines

DeBrusk. EP40. Boeser.
Kane. Chytil. Garland.
O'Connor. Cootes. Lekkerimäki.
Bains. Räty. Sherwood.

Hughes. Hronek.
EP25. Myers.
MP29. Mancini.

Extras: Karlsson, Blueger, Joseph" Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet said.
However, after practice when speaking with reporters, Foote said that he was thinking about a pretty big shakeup to his team's top-six forward group, swapping the two sets of wingers with Elias Pettersson playing alongside Conor Garland & Evander Kane, while Filip Chytil will go with Brock Boeser & Jake DeBrusk.
"Adam Foote on line combos: Right now, I'm leaning more towards going Petey with Garly and maybe Kane, we'll see, and Chytil with Boes, and then you've got the speed with DeBrusk. #Canucks " Batchelor said.
Given that it's still early, it's not necessarily a bad idea to change up the lines and maybe give Elias Pettersson's line a different look with the speed of Conor Garland and goal-scoring ability and grit that Evander Kane can bring.
If they do opt to shake things up for tomorrow's game against Dallas and it doesn't work, then it's back to the drawing board and perhaps considering some more radical changes, maybe even giving Jonathan Lekkerimaki or Kiefer Sherwood a look alongside Pettersson.
