Vancouver Canucks Bring Up Emergency Replacement After Thatcher Demko Is Seen Missing From Practice
In a strange and unexpected turn of events, the Vancouver Canucks have been forced to call up top goalie prospect Jiri Patera after Thatcher Demko was seen missing from practice.
With less than 20 games into the 2025-26 NHl season, a lack of production and injuries have become a common theme for the Vancouver Canucks that doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon.
The team has already seen Nils Hoglander, Quinn Hughes, Derek Forobort, Brock Boeser and several others go down with an injury that has clearly reflected in their mediocre win/loss record.
Vancouver Canucks without Thatcher Demko
Unfortunately, it appears that the Vancouver Canucks are going through another crisis as top goaltender, Thatcher Demko did not attend practice on Friday morning.
With no indication of an injury from any past starts, it has come to the shock of many fans that Demko could be out long-term.

As a result, the team was forced to make an emergency replacement and call up top goalie prospect Jiri Patera from the Abbottsford Canucks.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that G Jiri Patera has been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL) under emergency conditions.
As of right now, it is undisclosed why Demko is absent from the team, and all fans are holding their breathes hoping it is not something too serious, especially with his history of serious injuries.
