Vancouver Canucks Captain Quinn Hughes Receives Massive News From the NHL Heading into the New Season
The NHL Network has once again announced their list which reveals their top twenty defenseman heading into the 2025-26 season.
Last season, even after winning the Norris Trophy, Quinn Hughes finished second on NHL Network's list of d-men, with
Cale Makar taking the top spot once again.
Vancouver Canucks Captain Quinn Hughes ranked by the NHL as second best defenseman
All year long, it was a tight race between Cale Makar and Quinn Hughes on who was going to take home the NHL's Norris Trophy for the leagues most valuable d-man.
It seemed that the Hughes was a lock to win his second straight award, but a multiple mid-late season injuries put a major halt in those plans, as he only finished with 68 games with an impressive 16 goals and 60 assists for 76 points, with a plus/minus of +2.
Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has officially been named the National Hockey League's second-best defenseman for the second year in a row, only sitting behind reigning Norris Trophy winner Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche.

Although they both could easily swap spots on the list, Cale Makar took advantage of those extra games and finished with 30 goals and 62 assists for 92 points in 80 appearances, becoming the first d-man to score 30 goals since Mike Green achieved the feat during the 2008-2009 season with the Washington Capitals.
With the Canucks looking to get back to the Stanley Cup playoffs in 2025-26, the team will once again be relying on Hughes' leadership and MVP caliber play to lead them back there.
