Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson could have one of the team's new acquisitions this summer on his line for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
The Vancouver Canucks will head into the 2025-26 campaign with a lot of questions that need to be answered, which is understandable given how the team performed last year.
This offseason, the club has made a coaching change, along with some new additions, but the biggest question mark this season is Elias Pettersson, who is coming off a tough year where he registered just 45 points in 64 games, but is determined to bounce back
determined to bounce back and once again play a big role for his club.
"I haven't thought about it, but for myself it's revenge. I'm not happy with last season. I'm trying to lead by example. But I know that I can become a better leader, in that aspect. I'm trying my best, but also trying to get better." Pettersson said.
Pettersson is back to 100 percent health after a late-season injury in March and with a full summer of training with no restrictions under his belt, there's no reason he can't return to being a point-per-game player for the Canucks.
Elias Pettersson could have new Vancouver Canucks acquisition on his line this season
During an appearance on Sekeres and Price this week, Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects spoke about Elias Pettersson and how big of a year it's going to be for him during the 2025-26 season.
When discussing who Elias Pettersson could have as his linemates to start the year, Robinson believes that one of his wingers will undoubtedly be Jake DeBrusk, who signed in Vancouver partly because of the opportunity to play with the Swedish forward.
With one of his wingers likely set for opening night, barring any injuries, the question then becomes - who will be joining Elias Pettersson and Jake DeBrusk on the Vancouver Canucks' top line? and there's a few different options to consider.
The most obvious, as Robinson mentions, is
Brock Boeser, who has had chemistry at times with Pettersson, but it didn't work out too well last year, however, nothing seemed to work last season when it came to the Canucks' lineup.
Robinson believes that Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote will give Evander Kane a shot on Elias Pettersson's line, and if they go with Jake DeBrusk as the other winger, that'll drop Brock Boeser to the second trio, likely alongside
Filip Chytil and
Conor Garland.
With Vancouver's training camp set to open in five weeks and their first pre-season contest less than six weeks away, Adam Foote and his staff are definitely going to try out a few different combinations for their forward lines, but don't be surprised if Elias Pettersson and Evander Kane are on the same trio in their first exhibition game.
