Vancouver Canucks forward Filip Chytil gave an encouraging update on his health and what he's been working on this summer during a recent podcast appearance.
To his credit, Patrik Allvin did quite well with the J.T. Miller trade, despite some fans not wanting the club to move him, as that first round pick was flipped
to help them acquire Marcus Pettersson & Drew O'Connor from Pittsburgh, while Victor Mancini has proven to be a legit option for the NHL club this season and Filip Chytil may be thrusted into a massive role to start the year.
Chytil would only go on to appear in 15 games with the club, before suffering a concussion in a game against the Chicago Blackhawks in March, but now that he's back to 100 percent health, he's ready to show Vancouver Canucks fans what he's truly capable of.
Filip Chytil opens up on health, what he's worked on this summer during recent podcast appearance
The Czech forward made an appearance on the 100% Canucks Podcast with Landon Ferraro and John Shannon where he opened up on his recovery from the concussion suffered back in March and where he's at right now, with training camp less than four weeks away.
Chytil said that he feels a lot better now and that a couple weeks after arriving back in his home nation of Czechia in the spring, he began to skate and work out in preparation for the upcoming season.
"Great. I feel great. I said it at the end of the season that I feel I was ready to go offseason. I was very happy that I finished the season with the guys on the ice for a couple of practices." Chytil said.
He added, "Two weeks after I came [back to the Czech Republic] I started to work out and skate. Now it's almost four months already where I'm working out and skating. Knock on wood, I feel very good and feel very positive."
Chytil, 25, also revealed to Ferraro and Shannon that he's been working hard this summer on his shot, especially one-timers, because he enjoys scoring and wants to puck the puck in the back of the net on a consistent basis during his first full season with the Vancouver Canucks.
"I love to score goals and I know I can score a lot more than I'm scoring now, or even what my best season was. So we're working with my skill coach around the net a lot. Working on my shot. Working on one-timers. This is the thing that I'm working on the most. Of course we're working on my edges - doing puck-handling. The thing I love the most is just shooting. I know there is so much room what to work on and so much room how to get better. Even the top players work on their shot all the time. I love to score goals and I need to score more." Chytil said.
