The Vancouver Canucks have officially announced the signing of a 500+ game National Hockey League veteran after becoming an unrestricted free agent on Friday.

Every since the start of the offseason, the Vancouver Canucks have been among several teams around the National Hockey League pushing to add a centerman and despite making several attempts to land one, both through trade and free agency, Patrik Allvin has struck out.
With the Canucks one month into the 2025-26 season and injuries continue to pile up, especially down the middle, Patrik Allvin has gotten more aggressive in his search for a centerman and it looks like he's finally added a solid piece for his middle-six forward group.

In a post on social media on Saturday afternoon, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they've signed unrestricted free agent forward David Kampf to a one-year contract for the remainder of the 2025-26 season that'll pay him $1.1 million USD.
"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have agreed to terms with forward David Kämpf on a one year, $1.1 million contract." the Canucks said.
Kampf, a native of Chomutov, Czechia, has has been linked to the Vancouver Canucks for the last week now and rumors began to heat up on that front after the Toronto Maple Leafs placed him on unconditional waivers to terminate his contract.
"I've been told Canucks will definitely be in on Kampf. I can confirm they will be in on him." Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali said earlier this week.

The 30-year-old centerman began his career in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2017-18 campaign and has gone on to register 143 points (48 goals, 95 assists) and 114 penalty minutes in 536 games with them and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
With Filip Chytil and Teddy Blueger still on the sidelines for the Vancouver Canucks, there's no question that David Kampf will slot in at the second line center position for his new club and while it's not confirmed yet, it wouldn't be a shock if travels tonight and is in the lineup tomorrow night as Adam Foote's group takes on the Tampa Bay Lightning in their second game of a three-game road trip.
