Vancouver Canucks confirm who will be starting in net for matchup against the Florida Panthers
As the Vancouver Canucks set out to face off against the reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers this evening, the team has confirmed that Kevin Lankinen will be starting in net over Artur Silovs.
It makes sense that the Canucks will be going to give the nod to Lankinen after he played well in his first start. He has made only 1 start this season, where despite getting the loss, he stopped 29 of 31 shots before losing 3-2 in the shootout to the Philadelphia Flyers.
Artur Silovs started the other two games, and even with showing improvements in game number two, his overall numbers have been below par. He has achieved a goals against record of 4.50 and a 0.827 save percentage (S%), which is well below the league average and will need to show a lot more to keep the job he was touted to have when he season began.
Lankinen will have to continue his strong play this evening if he wants to be the Canucks go to guy in net until Thatcher Demko returns from an injury (knee).
Don't miss tonight's game which commences at 7:00p.m ET.
