Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers has shown immense leadership in a recent video that was released by the organization earlier this week.

The Vancouver Canucks are looking ahead to the 2025-26 season and they're hoping for another big year from defenseman Tyler Myers, who registered his fourth 20+ point campaign with the club.
Myers had a strong season for the Canucks and provided them with some stability on the blue line amid injury issues all season long, but unfortunately, he suffered one of his own early in April which ended his year earlier than he was expecting.
The Houston, Texas native was recently back in Vancouver and a video released by the team this week highlighted the strong leadership qualities he brings to the group on a yearly basis.

Tyler Myers shows immense leadership, gives speech at team's Development Camp

In a post on their social media accounts on Thursday, the Vancouver Canucks shared a video of a speech made by Tyler Myers to prospects at the 2025 Development Camp.
Myers gave advice to those in attendance, including 2025 first round pick Braeden Cootes, among others, as they begin the next chapter of their respective careers and to always give their best effort as they look to eventually make the leap to the next level.
"I want to say as a young guy, a good way to start is on the ice. If you can show guys on your team that you're gonna bring it, you're coming to battle each and every game, each and every practice, that in itself will get you a tremendous amount of respect from a guy 10, 15 years older than you. It will get noticed and I think that's a great starting point." Myers said.

He added, "Then from there, coming into the room when you've established yourself as a guy that's gonna battle for the guys and for the group, then I think the vocal side of things can start happening. It can happen quick, you can do that as a young guy. You can have the confidence to do it, but it's going to hit home a lot harder if you're a guy that shows you're coming to battle each and every day for everyone."
Being able to have someone like Tyler Myers there to speak with the club's prospects was a great idea by the Vancouver Canucks as he's someone who has been in their shoes a long time ago and has dealt with the pressure they're likely dealing with.
Myers was a first round pick, 12th overall, of the Buffalo Sabres in 2012 and there was a lot of expectation placed on him as he entered the league and he performed well in his first couple of years before his production declined and eventually, was traded to the Winnipeg Jets.
In Winnipeg and Vancouver, Myers found a role that has suited him well throughout his entire NHL career and that's on the second pairing, along with his team's penalty killing unit and with over 1,000 games of experience, he knows exactly what it takes to be a professional in the top league in the entire world.
