A new team has reportedly entered the mix to acquire Vancouver Canucks pending unrestricted free agent Kiefer Sherwood, who was made available by the club last week.
After being made available on the trade block by the Vancouver Canucks last week, interest is continuing to grow in forward Kiefer Sherwood, who is set to become a free agent on July 1st.
Among the teams that have shown interest in Kiefer Sherwood over the last ten days include the Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings and New York Islanders, sources said to James Murphy of RG.org.
"They have 100 percent called on both players. They want scoring and believe that with some more, this team can definitely stay in the race and make some noise." A source said to James Murphy of RG.org.
"I was told the Islanders, Sabres, and Red Wings also expressed interest in Sherwood, too." Another source informed Murphy.

The Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils are other teams that could be interested, according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, but there's another club that you can add to the list of potential suitors for Kiefer Sherwood.

In an article for The Athletic yesterday, Aaron Portzline revealed that the Columbus Blue Jackets have spoken to the Vancouver Canucks about Kiefer Sherwood recently.
"The Blue Jackets are among the clubs that have spoken to the Vancouver Canucks about trade scenarios, including a trade that could bring forward Kiefer Sherwood home to Columbus. Sherwood, 30, has emerged as one of the NHL's top power forwards over the past few seasons and is an unrestricted free agent this summer. He leads Vancouver with 12 goals after scoring a career-high 19 last season." Portzline said.
He added, "The Canucks, who notified all 31 clubs last week that they are open for business, are looking at major changes this offseason. One other club to watch here is Boston, and the Bruins have a big fan of Sherwood already in their dressing room: Sean Kuraly, another Columbus native, has been friends with him for years."

Sherwood, who is from Columbus, Ohio, would more than likely love the opportunity to play at home and in front of family & friends, like his brother Kole did for 11 games between the 2018-19 and 2020-21 season.
Not only would Columbus make sense as an option for Kiefer Sherwood this season as they push for their first appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 2020, with $45,308,334 in projected cap space for the 2026-27 campaign, they can afford to keep him around for several years to come as well.
