The Vancouver Canucks are drawing criticism from some of their fan base after images showed the team selling some unusual player-used items from this season.
Vancouver Canucks fans haven't been too happy lately with the organization, not just with the team's poor 2024-25 season, but also off the ice with their ways to make a quick buck.
In early April after
Alexander Ovechkin broke Wayne Gretzky's record, the Canucks
held an auction for autographed jerseys from the Washington Capitals star, which fans proceeded to call out owner Francesco Aquilini for.
"This is embarrassing @fr_aquilini stop trying to make a dollar at every turn" @S_Desai on X said.
Another user by the name of @ae_allchin said, "Shameless, spineless money grab but what else would we expect from Francesco Aquilini."

When you think of player-used items that fans are able to purchase, most people's first thought would be a stick or a jersey, maybe even a pair of gloves or a helmet, which are some of the things a lot of teams around the National Hockey League sell at the conclusion of the team.
Last week, the Vancouver Canucks started selling their own player-used items and while there was the typical stuff such as jerseys and sticks, some fans began to notice some unusual things being sold by the club.
X user @rokketeer posted an image on Friday of a Rubbermaid tote filled with player-worn shoes from the 2024-25 season that are being sold by the Canucks for $50 Canadian.
"So what's the target audience here" @rokketeer said.
If you thought used shoes being sold was strange, it get's a bit more weird as another X user, @AshtonRyder6 shared that the team is selling player-used laundry bags.
Not only is the team selling player-used laundry bags, they're charging double for a star player, like
Elias Pettersson for example whose is being sold for $50 CAD, while rookie forward
Aatu Raty's is for purchase for $25 CAD.
"These laundry bags are actually great. But charging double for "premium player" laundry bags is crazy lol" @AshtonRyder6 said.
Most fans would be more interested in wanting a player's game-used stick or jersey rather than a pair of shoes or a laundry bag and at the end of the day, this just seems like another money grab from the organization, which the fan base doesn't deserve.
