Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin commented on Friday about his decision to acquire former first round pick Lukas Reichel from the Chicago Blackhawks.

Ever since Nils Hoglander suffered an injury late in the preseason, the Vancouver Canucks have been searching for some forward help, particularly someone that could play in their middle-six, filling the void left by the Swede, who is expected to return to action at some point in mid-to-late December.
"The Vancouver Canucks are believed to be looking for a middle-six forward to add to their roster due to winger Nils Hoglander missing the next eight-to-ten weeks because of an injury. Canucks GM Patrik Allvin has been exploring options, according to separate league sources, but it is unclear if a move is imminent." David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period said recently.

Vancouver has been scouring the trade market for help and were finally able to land someone on Friday - Lukas Reichel, a former first round pick from the Chicago Blackhawks who the club was trying to give a fresh start.

The cost to acquire Lukas Reichel on Friday was relatively low, with Patrik Allvin giving up a fourth round pick in 2027 in exchange for the German forward.
When meeting with reporters shortly after the deal was announced, Allvin spoke about the decision to add Lukas Reichel to his group and what he likes about the 23-year-old's game.
"I was fortunate to see him play in Berlin in his draft year [and I] appreciated his competitiveness, his skill set, and his ability to skate. Over time, you've been waiting to see if this guy would be able to take it to the next level and establish himself as an NHL player. It's been like for most of the young players, a little bit of an up and down, until you establish yourselves. But you can see the skill set; you can see the speed in his game," Allvin said.

He added, "Obviously we liked him as a person and character too. So, we're excited to get him in here and continue to work with him."

Reichel, a native of Nuremberg, Germany, has appeared in 174 games in the National Hockey League with the Blackhawks, registering 58 points (22 goals, 36 assists), 32 penalty minutes and is a minus-60.
Allvin confirmed to reporters that if Reichel is able to make it to Vancouver in time, he will be in the lineup on Saturday afternoon when the club hosts the Montreal Canadiens.
