A National Hockey League insider gave an update recently about General Manager Patrik Allvin's search for help on the trade market early on in the 2025-26 season.

The Vancouver Canucks' forward group suffered a big loss during training camp as forward Nils Hoglander underwent surgery for a lower-body injury he sustained and is set to miss eight-to-ten weeks, with his 2025-26 debut potentially not coming until close to Christmas.
After the difficult season Hoglander had, starting the season on the shelf isn't ideal, but as is the case with any team in any sport, it's next man up and so far, the Canucks have done a pretty good job filling his role.
However, it appears that Patrik Allvin isn't done adding to his roster and is examining external options for his forward group.

The Fourth Period reported earlier this month that the Vancouver Canucks are searching for a middle-six forward on the trade market due to the injury to Nils Hoglander.
As of right now, it's unclear if a trade is imminent, but Patrik Allvin is looking and is willing to strike if the perfect player that suits their needs becomes available in the weeks ahead.
One name that has been suggested as a potential option for the Vancouver Canucks is former first round pick Lukas Reichel, with Patrik Allvin believed to be one of a handful of General Managers interested in the 23-year-old German winger.
"The Vancouver Canucks are believed to be looking for a middle-six forward to add to their roster due to winger Nils Hoglander missing the next eight-to-ten weeks because of an injury. Canucks GM Patrik Allvin has been exploring options, according to separate league sources, but it is unclear if a move is imminent.

Any addition would likely bolster the club's third-line, as Vancouver's top-six seems to be set with Elias Pettersson centering Jake DeBrusk and Brock Boeser, and Filip Chytil anchoring the second line in between Evander Kane and Conor Garland. The Canucks have reportedly been linked to Chicago Blackhawks winger Lukas Reichel, who has a $1.2 million cap hit, as have the Detroit Red Wings, Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks." The Fourth Period said.

Trades aren't easy at this time of year, but as everyone knows, Patrik Allvin likes to get his work done well ahead of time, so it wouldn't be a surprise if he's able to complete a trade for a middle-six forward before the end of October.
