Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin admitted recently that he's under pressure heading into what will certainly be a crucial season for the organization.

After a disappointing a disappointing 2024-25 campaign, the Vancouver Canucks are looking to turn the page and with some new additions to the roster, most notably Evander Kane and Vitali Kravtsov, along with several key players returning to full health, the team believes they can push for a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
There's no question that the Vancouver Canucks have the right pieces to make a run towards a Stanley Cup Playoff spot, especially if they can get bounce backs from Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser, Thatcher Demko return to the top of his game after dealing with several injury issues, as well as Quinn Hughes being his normal self - a perennial Norris Trophy candidate.
While the vibes in Vancouver seems quite high and positive right now - something we hope stays the same throughout the year - if things don't go well this season and they miss out on the postseason, changes could be coming and GM Patrik Allvin knows that he's under pressure.

GM Patrik Allvin admits he's under pressure heading into 2025-26 season

Aside from not being able to add a second line centerman this summer, Patrik Allvin has done all he could during the offseason to help his roster and now it's on them to perform and prove that he has made the right decisions.
With expectations sky high for the Canucks this season, the team's General Manager recently admitted during an interview with Sportsnet's Iain MacIntyre that he is under pressure this year.
I'm not sure if urgency is the right word. But there is pressure. I just feel for my players, too, that I want to provide them -- and especially the players who have been here for several years -- I want to provide the best roster I can for the players to have a chance to win. And for the fans." Allvin said to MacIntyre.

He added, "I definitely believe with (Thatcher) Demko, Quinn (Hughes), Elias (Pettersson) and Brock Boeser... there's a lot of talented players and I need to build out the roster. I wouldn't say urgency, but as a general manager the pressure comes on you because what you realize in the NHL is the years are just flying by."

During Patrik Allvin's tenure at the helm in Vancouver, the Canucks have made it to the playoffs just once - 2023-24, when the club was just one win away from their first appearance in the Western Conference Final since 2011.
Unfortunately for Allvin, even though he signed a multi-year extension with the team back in January of 2024, he's probably on the hot seat and if this season doesn't go as the higher ups want it to, there's a chance it could be his last year as General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks.
Now, it's a bit too early to think it could be his last year here, especially since the puck hasn't even dropped on the 2025-26 season just yet, but if the Canucks happen to get off to a very strong start, those rumors about Allvin's future in Vancouver may quickly vanish.
