It appears the Vancouver Canucks have found their everyday second-line center for the 2025-26 NHL season, but it is not the most ideal.

Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin has been tasked to find a suitable replacement for J.T. Miller and Pius Suter this offseason, but, it is proving far more difficult than previously believed.
With breakout star center Pius Suter leaving Vancouver to sign with the St. Louis Blues, the team is left without a true 2nd line center, and a recent report has shown that the Canucks are not expected to find an "outside hire" as free-agents aren't lining up to sign here.

Vancouver Canucks turning to Aatu Raty to solve second-line center issue

Because free-agents have made it known about their lack of desire to play in Vancouver, the team is now looking inward to find a solution, and it appears they will be looking to 22-year-old prospect Aatu Raty to step up.
The 22-year-old prospect put up 40 points in 43 games in the AHL last season, good for sixth in the league in points per game among players under the age of 23. Up until an injury knocked him out of the lineup in the playoffs, Räty was centring the Abbotsford Canucks' first line.

Räty's 0.93 points per game is a higher rate of scoring in the AHL at the same age than Jason Pominville, Jonathan Marchessault, and Patrick Sharp, among others who went on to become top-six forwards. - Daniel Wagner

Although he still has a lot to prove at the NHL level, the Canucks do not really have a better option right now.
There is is still time for the Patrik Allvin to make some big moves, but it sounds like with everything that has gone on in the last week, he is looking like their new go to guy on the second line.
