While the Vancouver Canucks have had some woes on the blueline, particularly their second and third pairings, the duo of Quinn Hughes and Filip Hronek have been solid, but it appears the fans may have to wait a while to see them together again.
On Wednesday night, the Vancouver Canucks took on the Pittsburgh Penguins in their third game of a six-game road trip and it wasn't a great contest for Rick Tocchet's group from start to finish.
With less than a minute remaining and the Canucks net empty, the team was trying to set up a play in the Penguins' zone, but were unable to find the equalizer, with Pittsburgh taking the two points by a score of 5 to 4.
Filip Hronek was deep in the Penguins' zone trying to help out his team when he was shoved into the boards by Pittsburgh blueliner Jack St. Ivany and when his should/arm made contact with the boards, he was in immediate pain.
Hronek skated back to the bench favoring his right shoulder/arm, according to Grady Sas.
According to Irfaan Gaffar, Filip Hronek will be out of the Canucks' lineup for 'a while' with an upper-body injury that doesn't require surgery.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman also shared that Filip Hronek will be out for a while, leaving Quinn Hughes without a defensive partner.
With Filip Hronek 'out for a while', Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks will likely be more aggressive on the trade market to bring in a defenseman.
The Canucks were already searching for a top-four defenseman, but this will accelerate that, Marcus Pettersson, Rasmus Andersson and MacKenzie Weegar among the names they've been linked to.
