Anaheim Ducks star forward Mason McTavish's name continues to be the main name appearing in trade rumours taking over the NHL, and the Vancouver Canucks pay a major price if they want any chance at acquiring him.

As the Vancouver Canucks are backed into a corner to finally make a major addition to their lineup before training camp begins, one player they've seemingly been linked to every week is no other than Anaheim Ducks restricted free agent forward Mason McTavish.
Although a rreport surfaced last week indicating that the Canucks' trade fate with McTavish was confirmed as the Ducks do not have any real interest in moving him, the door still remains slightly open.

Vancouver Canucks will have to pay massive price to land Mason McTavish from the Anaheim Ducks, and it seems very unlikely

Although once linked, the Vancouver Canucks have no longer been named as the "ones to watch" when it comes to being a destination for the 22 year old.
According to Jimmy Murphy of RG Media, there are three teams to closely watch in this case: the Carolina Hurricanes, the Detroit Red Wings, and the Montreal Canadiens.

The price is already extremely high for the remaining teams bidding for McTavishes' services, let alone the Canucks who are outt of the running.

Looking at the comparables, the Canucks would have to offer a major price in order to even get back on the Ducks' radar.
It would start with a 2026 1st-round pick and 2027 1st-round pick, while adding their two biggest prospects in Jonathan Lekkerimäki (Vancouver's top prospect, 15th overall pick in 2022) and Tom Willander (2023 1st-round pick).
Why Would the Anaheim Ducks Might Listen
General Manager Patrik Allvin's offer is a full «future core» package that the Ducks need as they work through a total rebuild.
it gets trickier as Anaheim really might only consider these unproven names if they are convinced Trevor Zegras and Leo Carlsson are going to be the franchise centers for years to come.
Regardless, the Canucks have had no real success this offseason in making the important upgrades, and that should not change in this situation as well, but it will be an interesting story to follow for the next few weeks.
