Vancouver Canucks Prospect Officially Set to Join New Team in the Coming Weeks

The offseason is in full swing around the hockey world and fans are eagerly awaiting the return of their favourite team and the start of the 2025-26 season, which for the NHL, is 89 days away.

While it might be a while before we see the Vancouver Canucks back on the ice, one of the team's prospects they selected nearly two weeks ago, will be in action later this month.

According to Dave Hall of Canucks Army, Vancouver Canucks 2025 fifth round pick Wilson Bjorck has been named to Sweden's roster for the World Junior Summer Showcase in Minnesota starting on July 25th.

Bjorck won't be the only name Vancouver Canucks fans are familiar with on Sweden's roster as one of their former prospects, Melvin Fernstrom, who Pittsburgh acquired in the Marcus Pettersson trade in January, will also be in attendance.

Among other notable names on Sweden's roster for the showcase is 2025 third overall pick Anton Frondell (Chicago Blackhawks), along with 2025 first rounders Victor Eklund (New York Islanders) and Sascha Boumedienne (Winnipeg Jets).

Bjorck, 19, is coming off a solid season in Sweden for Djurgardens IF's U20 team where he put up 67 points (28 goals, 39 assists), 98 penalty minutes and was a plus-31 in 43 games.

The Stockholm native will be in action for Sweden on July 27th as they take on USA Blue to begin the 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase.

The Swedes will also take on USA White on July 28th, a combined Team USA on July 30th, Canada on August 1st and will wrap things up against their Nordic rivals, Finland, on August 2nd.

In December, Bjorck will look to extend Vancouver's streak to seven tournaments of having a prospect on Sweden's roster, following Nils Hoglander (2020), Arvid Costmar (2021), Jonathan Lekkerimaki (2022, 2023 & 2024), Elias Pettersson (2023 & 2024), Tom Willander (2024 & 2025).
