The Vancouver Canucks reportedly remain interested in acquiring a former Stanley Cup champion as Patrik Allvin's search for help down the middle begins to ramp up.

It might be early, but the Vancouver Canucks are struggling in the goal scoring department for for a second consecutive season as they sit 23rd in the National Hockey League with 35 goals in 13 games, an average of 2.69 per night.
If the Vancouver Canucks want to achieve their goal of making it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the spring and avoid missing out for the fifth time in the last six seasons, they may need some external help, whether that be someone like Steven Stamkos or Pavel Zacha, both of whom will cost a premium to acquire.
Beyond their goal scoring need, the Canucks also have to find a way to keep the puck out of the back of the net, with 41 goals allowed so far this season, which has them 22nd in the NHL and there's one player on the trade market who could certainly help with that.

Last week, it was reported by Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects that one player that's been suggested in regards to Vancouver's search for center help is Oskar Sundqvist of the St. Louis Blues.
"One player that did get mentioned to me a couple of times is Oskar Sundqvist in St. Louis" Robinson said.

While Sundqvist might not be Vancouver's top target and might not even be a second liner on this team, Rob Couch of Heavy.com believes he could help the club on the penalty kill and play a bottom-six role, if Patrik Allvin were able to bring him to the Lower Mainland.
"Sundqvist is a solid piece to have, especially given how he's started the season. In just six games, the veteran has five assists and is playing 14:30 per game. He will log time on both the power play and penalty kill, more than what can be said for the bottom-6 players currently in the Canucks' lineup." Couch said.

Sundqvist, a native of Boden, Sweden, would bring plenty of experience to the Vancouver Canucks dressing room, with 499 regular season games under his belt, as well as two Stanley Cups from his time with the Pittsburgh Penguins and St. Louis Blues in 2016 and 2019, respectively.
Depending on the cost to acquire him, Sundqvist's low salary makes him an interesting shutdown option for Patrik Allvin, allowing Filip Chytil to remain in his 2C slot when he returns from injury and shifting Teddy Blueger into a fourth line role.
