The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly working on another trade just days after sending their now-former captain Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild last Friday.

While the writing was on the wall, no one could've expected the Vancouver Canucks to trade Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild for a package that included future number one defenseman Zeev Buium.
Following the Quinn Hughes trade, the Vancouver Canucks finally accepted the fact that they're going to need to rebuild/retool and have the consent of their ownership group to do so, which is a big step for this franchise.
In the months to come, the Vancouver Canucks are going to be in the thick of trade rumors around the NHL, with all of their pending unrestricted free agents up for grabs, but it appears that one forward they only acquired a couple of months ago might be on the move very soon.

Vancouver Canucks reportedly working to get Lukas Reichel trade done

According to Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali, the Vancouver Canucks are reportedly working on trading German forward Lukas Reichel after he was placed on waivers, and subsequently cleared, over the weekend ahead of their five-game road trip.
Canucks are trying to trade Reichel. There is a chance of a deal happening." Dhaliwal said on X on Sunday.

The Canucks acquired Lukas Reichel in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks in late-October in the hopes that he could step in and play a second line center role amid the team's growing injury situation.
However, the opposite happened as while Reichel began his tenure with the Canucks down the middle, he was quickly moved to the wing by Head Coach Adam Foote and also found himself in the press box as a healthy scratch on a handful of occasions.
In 14 games with the Canucks, the Nuremberg, Germany native had just one assist, four penalty minutes, was a minus-five and averaged 13:06 of ice time per night.
As Lukas Reichel awaits a trade, he'll be suiting up for the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Canucks while his agent Alain Roy works to facilitate a trade after receiving permission to do so by the Canucks' front office, according to Rick Dhaliwal.
"Lukas Reichel will be reporting to Abbotsford until a trade happens.

Reichel's agent Alain Roy has permission from the Canucks to help facilitate a trade." Dhaliwal said.
Reichel is set to make his Abbotsford Canucks debut and appear in his first AHL game since the 2023-24 season on Friday night as they host the Tucson Roadrunners.
