Vancouver Canucks Rise in Recent Power Rankings From NHL.com
In this week's edition of the 'Super 16', NHL.com's power rankings, Rick Tocchet's group has seen their position within the list rise by one spot.
Prior to last night's loss to the New York Islanders, the Vancouver Canucks were on a bit of a roll, especially in the last week. Between last Wednesday (November 6th) and yesterday, the Vancouver Canucks had a record of 2-1-0 with wins coming against the Los Angeles Kings and Calgary Flames.
Before yesterday's game, NHL.com and their writers released this week's edition of the Super 16 Power Rankings, which saw the Vancouver Canucks rise thanks to their two wins between November 6th and 14th.
Vancouver Canucks rise on NHL.com Super 16 Power Rankings
On this week's Super 16 Power Rankings, the Vancouver Canucks jumped up one spot from 11th to tenth. NHL.com's Jean-Francois Chaumont highlighted Quinn Hughes' impact on the Vancouver Canucks this season and how well he's been playing overall, but especially from an offensive standpoint.
"The best thing going for the Canucks is Quinn Hughes. He's the captain, but also the heart and soul of this team. Hughes, a defenseman, is at the top of the scoring leaderboard for the Canucks with 16 points (three goals, 13 assists). He's also playing close to 25 minutes per game. After Hughes, the next best thing going for Vancouver is its road record this season (6-1-0)." Jean-Francois Chaumont said.
In the last two weeks, the Vancouver Canucks have gone from 12th on the NHL.com's Super 16 to tenth. While it might not seem like a big jump, overall the team is playing well and it's deserved. The way the Canucks played during their three-game road trip in California showed everyone how good they could possibly be. Add in the return of Dakota Joshua to the lineup and eventually, hopefully soon, Thatcher Demko too and this could be a very dangerous team.
The Vancouver Canucks will look to improve that ranking in next week's Super 16 and the first step in doing that will be a win on Saturday night against Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks.
