The center depth of the Vancouver Canucks continues to plague them, especially centerman Aatu Raty, who has been in a difficult situation, outside of his limitations, and the David Kampf acquisition has not helped this problem.
"The Vancouver Canucks are learning why the Toronto Maple Leafs placed David Kampf on waivers, the forward now with Vancouver has been poor in his first 3 games with the club."-Stinson
Ratu needs a refresher with Vancouver Canucks.
Patrick Johnson of the Province writes on the struggles Ratu has faced this season. Playing in a role much too big for him, it's taken a toll on his game and his playing time is suffering because of it.
"That's why the young Finn found himself essentially benched in the late stages of Wednesday's 5-4 win for the Vancouver Canucks over the Anaheim Ducks, a win that was very fun, very loose, and perhaps a touch lucky - at the very least won because of a great performance by another young player, goalie Nikita Tolopilo."-Johnson
Following the game head coach Adam Foote stated that Raty likely needs a break, watching a few games from the stands. It's good sometimes to get a different perspective on the game and watching it from an overhead angle. It'll also help clear his mind and refocus on the push before the holidays.
"Realistically, the Canucks need to find a two-way centreman who can push Kampf, Raty and Sasson all down the pecking order, in whatever order they shake out."-Johnson
This problem has been known for over 6 months now it's nothing new, but it's starting to hurt the careers of other players. Until the Canucks find a center, they have no chance of making the playoffs.
