A Vancouver Canucks forward could still be moved by the team this summer, even after they dealt Dakota Joshua to the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier this week.

It's been a busy summer for the Vancouver Canucks so far, with three trades, the re-signing of Brock Boeser, contract extensions for Thatcher Demko & Conor Garland, along with some minor signings to round out the roster down in Abbotsford.
While it certainly feels like the Vancouver Canucks could go into the 2025-26 season with the roster they have currently, it doesn't look like they're done adding, according to Thomas Drance of The Athletic and they may need to move some more money out to land a an impact player.
"It may be mid-summer, but #Canucks management isn't "off to the cottage" just yet.

Hear the club is monitoring a couple of the UFA options still on the market. No surprise given their recent history.

VAN needs to move out cap dollars first, + they're actively working to do so." Drance said last week.

Vancouver Canucks forward could become cap causality this summer

This week, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin traded Dakota Joshua to the Toronto Maple Leafs, which opened up an additional $3.25 million in cap space to work with this summer.
Given the team's need for some more help down the middle, ideally a legit second line centerman, it's unlikely that they'll be able to find someone even on the trade market with a salary of under $4 million US, which would require Patrik Allvin to move out some more money.
Before Thursday's trade, Dakota Joshua wasn't the only Canucks player in the rumour mill as Latvian forward Teddy Blueger was also mentioned as a candidate to be dealt this summer and that still could be the case at some point this summer.
"Teddy Blueger could be available on the trade market if the Canucks need to open up cap space to execute something larger." Thomas Drance and Rick Dhaliwal said in an article on The Athletic at the end of June.

One difficult part about moving Blueger is the fact he has a 12-team no-trade list, as pointed out by Benchrates on X recently.
"Teddy Blueger is another potential trade candidate for #Canucks, per rumors. He can score 20+ points with a limited bottom-6 role, his deal isn't risky and he can be considered by a team that needs depth. But the 12-team no-trade list makes a deal more difficult." Benchrates said.
Blueger, a native of Riga, Latvia, has one year remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $1.8 million and while that might not seem like a whole lot of space, if the Canucks are able to move him, it would go a long way in their goal of landing someone who could fill that 2C hole.
