Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers shared his thoughts regarding trade rumors surrounding his captain, Quinn Hughes, which have been ongoing for weeks.

The Vancouver Canucks are no stranger to trade rumors regarding their top players including Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser all throughout the 2024-25 season and most recently, captain Quinn Hughes.
Ever since Jim Rutherford's comments at the end-of-season press conference that mentioned Quinn Hughes' desire to play with his brothers at some point in his career, rumors have been running wild and his fellow teammate, Tyler Myers, weighed in on the topic recently.

Vancouver Canucks' Tyler Myers shares his thoughts on Quinn Hughes trade rumors

This week, Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers was a guest on The Cam & Strick Podcast where the blueliner discussed a lot, from the feud between Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller to trade rumors involving his captain, Quinn Hughes.
Myers kept his comments on the matter short and sweet, saying that Hughes loves his brothers and his family, but isn't a big fan of the speculation that's been going on, adding that it's grown into a much bigger story than it is.
"Huggy doesn't like all that speculation and stuff. He loves his brothers, loves his family like everybody else, but he's not going around the room saying he wants to play with his brothers. I know it's a big story around the hockey world, but everyone makes that a lot more than it is." Myers said.

Myers also had a ton of praise for Quinn Hughes during the interview, calling the 25-year-old possibly the best player he's seen in his career and that his captain and fellow Norris Trophy winner Cale Makar are on an entirely different level than those around the National Hockey League.
"Five years ago, I was like, ''Wow, this guy is amazing.' It seems like every year since then, he's only gotten better. Just when I think he's at his ceiling and in his prime, he just keeps getting better.

It's crazy. The thing with Huggy that separates him, his edge work, and the way he separates himself from guys, gives him so much time and space, and then his skill just takes over.

He's maybe the best player I've seen in my career. Him and [Cale] Makar are on another level. It's fun to watch." Myers said.

Going back to trade rumors regarding Quinn Hughes, if the Vancouver Canucks were to eventually move on from him, it would be a massive blow to the organization's chances of being a contender on a long-term basis.
However, there's no doubt that as soon as July 1st, 2026 hits, General Manager Patrik Allvin is going to be doing all he can to lock up his captain to a long-term contract extension, keeping him in British Columbia for the majority of his career.
