The brand new Vancouver professional women's hockey team of the PWHL have made a major announcement as they have finally hired their first ever general manager in team history.

Bringing one of the best out West 🤝

We are pleased to welcome Cara Gardner Morey to Vancouver as our General Manager!
Exactly one month ago, it was announced that the city of Vancouver would be getting an additional professional hockey team when the PWHL made the choice to expand out west, making them the 8th team in the fairly new hockey league.
Since the PWHL's launch in 2024, hockey fans in Vancouver have been eagerly calling for a team of their own on the West Coast. And now, they officially have one.
The organization has already made waves against the Canucks as they already have their very own state of the art practice facility, something the Canucks have refused to do and has become a huge matter of contention.
This fact was reinforced so much to the point that huge issue that it played a large hand in head coach Rick Tocchet deciding to leave the Canucks organization after just two seasons.
"I would be lying to you if practice facility wasn't a reason." Tocchet said according to Rick Dhaliwal.

Now, as the organization is coming together for their debut season in 2025-2026, the team announced their first ever general manager, hiring Cara Gardner Morey, who spent the last 14 seasons with Princeton Women's Ice Hockey team.
«Cara brings exceptional experience at all levels of the game, a deep understanding of player development, and an unwavering passion for advancing women's sports,» said Jayna Hefford, PWHL Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations.

«Her track record at Princeton speaks for itself - instilling a strong culture, recruiting top talent, developing elite athletes, and winning championships. Cara becoming General Manager of PWHL Vancouver is a powerful addition to our league.»

Everyone here at Canucks Daily want to extend a massive congratulations to Morey and PWHL Vancouver and know that they will do the city of Vancouver proud next season.
