Vancouver, British Columbia native Milan Lucic has landed a professional tryout (PTO) in hopes of returning to the NHL after last suiting up back in October of 2023.

Nearly two years ago, Milan Lucic, who was making his return to the Boston Bruins after eight seasons away, was arrested and was facing a domestic violence charge, with the former Stanley Cup champion subsequently placed in the NHL/NHLPA Players Assistance Program, where he spent for the remainder of the year.
Three months after being arrested, prosecutors dropped the charges Milan Lucic was facing, which cleared the path for an eventual NHL return and after being on the sidelines for nearly 22 months, it looks like he's getting close to being back in the league.

Following reports last year that stated he was set to sign a PTO with the New Jersey Devils, which never came to fruition as he wasn't cleared to return by Commissioner Gary Bettman, Milan Lucic has landed another opportunity to prove himself at the NHL level.
On Tuesday morning, the St. Louis Blues announced that they have signed Milan Lucic to a professional tryout (PTO), which will allow him to attend training camp and play in preseason games with the club.
"St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the Blues have signed forward Milan Lucic to a professional tryout." the Blues said.

With his arrest and time in the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance now behind him, Lucic has been reinstated by the league and has been hard at work on a personal level, which was which was shared by his wife Brittany back in June.
"The greatest gift you have given our children is the gift of your sobriety -the ability to experience life through a cleaner, more grounded perspective. You have always been present for them, and now, even more so," she wrote.

"They are truly fortunate to call you 'Dad' and to learn from the thoughtful tools and wisdom you've gained along your journey. I am deeply proud of the strength, dedication, and growth you've shown as you continue becoming the best version of yourself - for their sake, and for the family we've built together." Lucic's wife Brittany said in an Instagram story.

It's going to be interesting to see if Milan Lucic will make the most of his second chance in the National Hockey League and if he's able to land a contract with the St. Louis Blues towards the end of training camp.
There's no question though that it'll be tough, given that the game has gone a lot faster in recent years and may be hard for the 37-year-old to keep up, especially when considering he hasn't played since October 21st, 2023, but he's certainly going to try his best and give it his all.
