BREAKING | Hopes of signing Ivan Barbashev are now over: He signed a new deal
Ivan Barbashev had been identified as a primary target for Patrik Allvin and the Canucks if he had gone to free agency.
After outstanding performances in the playoffs, the Golden Knights didn't want to let him go. They moved Reilly Smith to the Penguins and re-signed the centerman to a 5-year deal worth $25M.
The 18 points he collected through 22 playoff games convinced the Knights' front office to retain his services. A bonified 3rd line centerman, that's yet another piece taken off the board for the Canucks.
