BREAKING | Confirmation that Vladislav Gavrikov will not sign with the Canucks
Patrick Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks will now have to look elsewhere on the free agent defenceman market as one potential target is now off the board.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Vladislav Gavrikov have signed a two-year contract extension to remain with the Los Angeles Kings, with the deal worth $5.875 million per season.
Chris Johnston of TSN added that Gavrikov's contract is made up almost entirely of bonuses that will be paid out July 1st 2023 and 2024, with his actual salary only being $775,000 per season. The deal also includes a full no-movement clause.
The Kings were able to make this signing official on Wednesday after clearing cap space yesterday in a three-team trade with Philadelphia and Columbus, sending Cal Petersen, Sean Walker and Helge Grans to the Flyers.
The 27-year-old was dealt to the Los Ang Kings at the trade deadline this season, along with goaltender Joonas Korpisalo. In 20 games during the regular season, the Yaroslavl (Russia) native had nine points (three goals, six assists), eight penalty minutes and was a plus-12. Gavrikov added one assist in six games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
