LATEST | Canucks linked to another Cup-Winning veteran defenseman
The Canucks will be busy on the market for the next couple of weeks. On the lookout for a centerman, one or even two defensemen and muscle, Allvin has a lot on his shopping list heading into free agency.
Rick Dhaliwal came up big again today and revealed that the Canucks had their eye on a Stanley Cup-winning defenseman. Ian Cole, the 34-year-old defenseman coming off a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning, checks many boxes for the Canucks.
There was an obvious connection between the veteran and his time under Rutherford, Allvin and Tocchet when they won the Stanley Cup. Also, due to the fact that he's experienced, physical and known for his penalty-killing abilities. Here's the full segment:
Cole is a 13 NHL season veteran. He knows his fair share about winning and leadership as part of the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup that won back-to-back Stanley Cups. Coming off a 76 games season in which he managed 17 points, is he a target that makes sense for the Canucks?
