LATEST | Ethan Bear honoured as he likely enters his final days with the Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks made a post on their social media accounts on Monday, celebrating Ethan Bear's birthday as he turned 26-years-old.
Bear may be entering his final days as a member of the Vancouver Canucks. Recently, Bear underwent shoulder surgery after suffering an injury during the quarter-finals at the IIHF World Hockey Championship and will be out of action for six months. It remains unclear if he will be offered a new contract by the Canucks.
The Regina native is currently a restricted free agent and in order to retain his rights, the Canucks must issue him a qualifying offer by 5 p.m. ET on Friday, June 30th. There have been some reports suggesting that the Canucks WON'T be issuing him a qualifying offer by Friday, which would make him an unrestricted free agent on July 1st at noon ET.
In his first season with the Canucks, Bear appeared in 61 games where he recorded 16 points (three goals, 13 assists), 25 penalty minutes and was a plus-six.
