LATEST | Jake Guentzel mock trade to the Canucks: Should Allvin be weary to spend that much?
We know for sure that the Canucks will be buyers heading into this year's trade deadline. Few names have already been linked to the Canucks and the mock trades have already been flying out there.
A mock trade sending Jake Guentzel has been gaining lots of traction and Patrik Allvin should be weary of what could wind up only being a rental.
Guentzel would definitely be a home run for the Canucks, a proven high end winger with loads of playoff experience, he knows how to get it done. However, he is bound to be a UFA by this season's end and he'll be looking at a raise the Canucks may not be able to afford.
By giving Kuzmenko, a 1st Rounder and Raty, the Canucks would be paying the a similar price to what the Islanders gave to acquire Bo Horvat just a year ago. Horvat signed a hefty extension just days after being traded.
Do you consider this price as being too high for a winger? Would it be more reasonable to think about getting this deal done only if an extension is already in place? Even though the Canucks are first league-wide, are they really in a place where they can afford to give up first tier assets?
