Whether it comes through relocation or expansion, it appears that Salt Lake City is a top destination for the National Hockey League and according to Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith, the wheels are in motion to get a team.
But now with the news that the Arizona Coyotes are likely to be on the move, could Smith get the NHL franchise he's desiring? It's certainly possible and they could play out of the 20,000-seat Vivint Arena, which Ryan Smith also owns.
The NHL has held pre-season games in Salt Lake City every year since 2018, except 2020, and will be returning there again in October when the Los Angeles Kings take on the San Jose Sharks.
