He had a stellar season with the Regina Pats in the WHL, where he cumulated better junior numbers than the NHL's top scorer Connor McDavid. An amazing season in which he put up 71 goals and 72 assists in only 57 games where as McDavid managed 120 points in 47 games.
A former Regina Pats head coach and scout for the Canucks until last year, Pat Conacher, stated in a podcast yesterday that he believed Jordan Weal was a better player in juniors than Bedard was.
This probably explains why he isn't a scout or a coach anymore. Jordan Weal was a pretty good Junior player, Weal managed 102 points in 72 games (1.41 ppg) in his draft-eligible season. Comparing this production to Bedard's 143 points in 57 games (2.51 ppg) is just absurd.
